Summary
The 2011 Census origin-destination tables comprise the travel-to-work and migration patterns of individuals, cross-tabulated by variables of interest.
Description
Origin-destination data is also known as flow data and shows the flows of people from one place to another. Flow tables show basic flows between areas, univariate tables cross-tabulate flows with one other variable, and multivariate tables cross tabulate flows with more than one variable. There are four types of origin-destination data for the 2011 Census: Special Migration Statistics show the migration patterns (both internal and international) of individuals based on their location 1 year prior to Census Day (27 March 2011); Special Workplace Statistics show the commuting patterns of individuals; Special Residence Statistics provide information on the location of second residences in relation to an individuals usual residence or workplace; and Special Student Statistics show the migration patterns of individuals living at student addresses one year prior to the Census.
