Summary
The table consists of identifiers from both the administrative register and the statistical register. This enables users to join their data with ease.
Description
The table consists of identifiers from the Business Index, which is the administrative register, with corresponding statistical identifiers, from the Inter Department Business Register. This allows the user to link the lowest legal form of a business, a legal unit to statistical data gleaned at the enterprise or reporting unit level. The enterprise / reporting unit can have either a 1-1 relationship with the legal unit [a business] or 1>many. This is due to the way a single business identifies itself which can be equal to a whole division and thus >1 legal unit. Due to statistical data following the UK economic activity of a business, the statistical identifiers can change throughout the year and therefore, the Business Index ID has been linked for each quarter of each year of the published statistical data. The user guide will outline how to join statistical data to the table to utilise the administrative ID from the Business Index.
